https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Galp1aGrIYAlthough it was unimaginable for Korngold ever to adapt an original work, it just happened. His standpoint was: "Actually I am an enemy of all adaptations." As a conductor, he was given the task of arranging Johann Strauss's operetta "Das Spitzentuch der Königin" ("The Queen's Lace Handkerchief") for a Viennese performance. He polished up the instrumentation of the vocal numbers to suit the taste of the audience, incorporated lively melodies from other works, embedded well-known waltzes, and thus turned the Strauss arrangement into a genuine work of Korngold. A matter very dear to Stefan Klingele and the Leipzig Musikalische Komödie is the cultivation of German operettas and musical plays, which, with joy and enthusiasm, is how it revives Korngold's new version. The present recording was co-produced by Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, and Rondeau Production.
